Saigon Notre Dame Cathedralis situated in District 1,Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam). It is 140 years old and is the witness of changes in Ho Chi Minh City. The Cathedral is a masterpiece of urban architecture. it was constructed in 3 years with original materials imported from France. 

According to architects, the main architectural style of the Cathedral is Romanesque architecture, and it also was affected by many styles and design trends in the post-Romanesque period.

2. Especial antiquities of Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral

 In addition to the unique architecture, there are many special antiquities inside the Cathedral. Two of these antiquities are the bell towers nearly 37m away from the ground with  bells named La, Do, Sol, Si, Mi and Re.

The total weight of these bells is about 30 tons. They was molded in France in 1879. Their sound reaches to a distance of 10 km as the crow flies.

Another antiquity is a pipe organ considered one of two most antique pipe organs of Vietnam. The organ is made by hand and specially designed so that the sound is enough for the Cathedral, not too small and not too loud.

The Cross is 3.50m high and 600kg heavy. The huge clock is as big as a large closet, about 2.5m high, 3m long and 1m deep..

If you want to feel the rhythm of Ho Chi Minh City, all you need to do is to sit on the pavement, sipping a coffee in front of Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral.It is also one of the most interesting things to do in Ho Chi Minh City.

Sitting at the small park in front of the Cathedral, you can easily see hawkers on the street, children playing, busy traffic, couples taking wedding photos, tourists from other countries coming to visit the Cathedral, followers coming to church, etc.

Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral is expected to be restored in September, 2015 and the restoration will be constructed for many years.
